Who are the O.W.L.S?

The O.W.L.S. are out "Older, Wiser, Livelier, Saints," or our older adults at CFUMC. We try to host frequent social gatherings for food, fellowship and fun!

O.W.L.S. Lunch

This fellowship group (55 and older) meets on the fourth Monday of each month (Except for July, 2021) for a covered dish lunch and a brief program. A donation of $2 is requested for lunch, and you must RSVP with Christy Hinson each month!

Quarterly we have amazing fellowship with each other either in the Fellowship Hall or off campus.  It's always fun!  BBQ's, fabulous entertainers, wonderful catered meals and more!

Shepherding Program

The Shepherding Program at Clarkesville First UMC is a program for older adults.  Members of our church are assigned an older adult who has requested a "Shepherd".  A Shepherd does many things, most importantly makes a phone call once every other week to check on their person (we call that person a sheep).  Many times a Shepherd will run an errand for  their Sheep or pick up a few groceries.  During the pandemic we initiated this program which encompassed over 350+ people.  We sent out a survey in October of 2020 and reduced our numbers close to 100+.  If you would like to be a Shepherd or you need a Shepherd to call on you, please let me know.  I would be happy to connect you with a wonderful, caring person.
