Update:  Fill The Truck for Sharing & Caring

On June 11, as we honored a longstanding tradition to “Fill the Truck” for the food pantry at Sharing & Caring, a local assistance ministry that provides food, assistance with utilities and other expenses, and clothing and household items in their thrift store.  The truck was parked along Washington St, near the Sanctuary, all day on Sunday. Many thanks to WA Trotman, who has “loaned” his pick-up truck for many years. We also collected monetary donations and we are glad to report that we will be sending Sharing & Caring $285. Thank you for supporting this vital ministry which is a help to many in our community.

A Note from the finance chair

The financial state of the church remains strong. The church paid apportionments in full for 2017 as well as meeting other financial obligations that arose.  Major improvements were made to the heating and air units at the Connection Ministry building, those funds came out of the Future Facilities account, and new units were purchased at the main church building as well. The funds for the main church building expenditure came out of the general budget.

The church staff did an excellent job remaining within their budgets. Where need arose, even beyond budget constraints, the church moved to meet those needs. Where budget line items were exceeded in some areas, lines items were well below budget in other areas. From a budgetary stand point the church will carry significant cash reserves into 2017.

The Finance Committee in conjunction with the Trustees are moving forward with the  new Fellowship Hall construction project.  As we move forward, communication from the Finance Committee with be direct, clear and concise.

I would like to thank you for your gifts and service over the past year. The Finance Committee will continue to use your gifts in a responsible manner. If you have any questions concerning finance please contact me at your convenience.

Your brother in Christ,

William J. Spivey, Finance Chair
